Stencil Graffiti

The Graffiti Wall...becoming cooler.

After looking at urban street graffiti, students came to realize that "graffiti" is more than tagging words and gang related communication. The style of Stencil Graffiti is a world wide, underground art movement used to beautify the concrete jungles as well as communicate political, positive, ironic and satirical messages. These graffiti images are meant to make people think about the message, or just enjoy the imagery.

Students then created their own message or image through the stencil method and apply it to any surface using spray paint - once the stencil is created, the image can be repeated over and over.

Original Creativity

As the year goes on, students' technical skills and understanding of the arts grow and they begin to have the "tools" to develop their own visual voice.

Students study THE PRINCIPLES & ELEMENTS OF DESIGN and apply these concepts to their own original concepts using a variety of mediums, subjects and themes.
