District Art Show

 

The Montbello Art Department was very well represented in the Denver Public Schools District Art show with five accepted senior portfolios (more than any other DPS high school) and eleven individual student works represented.  Three of our students were awarded $10,000 scholarships to The Art Institute of Colorado and two students won 1st place in their category.

Surreal Collage

 

Art & Craft students studied the art movement of Surrealism and applied the collage method to create their own surreal environments; first by finding an environment and then objects to juxtapose within to create a surreal illusion.

Watercolor Portraits

 

Students take on the challenging medium of watercolor to create self portraits.  They applied color theory and mixed beautiful and interesting skin tones as well as shadows and highlights to create value and form.
